We spent some time with Emma and asked her about a the best things; life, food, and advice!
What did you have for breakfast today?
Miso soup, weird I know, but it soothes my vata dosha. Also weird, I know.
How do you move your body?
Emotional, I move my soul through writing.
Physically, I move my body through Les Mills GRIT and Les Mills SPRINT.
If I am not scribing I am sweating.
What is your favourite food memory?
Trying coffee for the first time. I remember being so dumbfounded by what was all the craze! It was gross. Now, it’s a ritual.
Who are you inspired by?
Ancient wisdom keepers. Woman like Marija Gimbutas, Starhawk, and Clarissa Pinkola Estes.
Where in the world is your favourite eatery and why?
The End, Brooklyn. The New York version of The Raw Kitchen, only they sell crystal. Hence my pick! Plus, they sell unicorn lattes – I mean…
What does your dream Sunday morning look like?
Incense, music, a quiet house, a stack of books, and the freedom to write to my hearts content. Sunday’s for me are all about scribing in my sanctuary. Particularly in winter!
Where is your ideal holiday location?
Anywhere soul lives. Bali. Byron. Even the City of Angels. As long as there is sun on my face I am happy. I’m thinking of Belize or the Galapagos for my next intrepid getaway.
What is your most-used pantry item?
Jars. I fear I was an old lady who use to pickle things in a past life because this life I seem to collect jars and be obsessed with pickles.
Who would you like to host for dinner?
My counsel of advisors. I feel they deserve a treat after the countless times they must eye-roll my ‘I-know-better’ approach to tapping into my intuition. They have been patient, they deserve a serving of soul food in return.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
A queen never calls herself a queen.
What would you tell your 20 year old self?
You achieve it all. Chill out and enjoy achieving it all. Listen. Learn. And know you are never better than anyone else.
What drives you?
Service.
What food principles do you live by?
Balance.
What will you be doing in 10 years?
Writing. Teaching. Loving.
What is the best advice you have ever given?
People are dicks. Love them anyway.
